First of all, I never believed a thing they say about getting tattoo’d… That it could become addictive at some point. Boy o boy, those people were right though! My first one was a gift from my dad for my 16th birthday. Pretty bizarre I know, but I grew up among motorcycles and tattoo’d men. I decided at a very young age that I would get a piece inked when I grew up. It took me 12 years to collect these four that I have today. And know i’m thinking about getting another one. So I made a list with inspiration, trends and styles that I like the most, hopefully I will come up with the perfect idea this year.

I really think that Mandalas are a piece of art on itself. Especially when they are put onto your skin by a true artist. All those fine, curly and feminine lines just truck me with their beauty. I know for sure, if I choose something like this that I would always be in love with it. Personally I would place these kind of tattoos on my forearm (inner side) or on my upper leg.
The graphic arrow
I’m a graphic designer by heart, so I love a well graphic designed piece of ink as well. The arrow for me particular stands for moving on and finding your own path in life. It’s a part of a compass and very symbolic for finding your way. I think it’s a contant reminder of knowing or discovering what you want to do during your time on earth. I think I would locate this one between (but then at the lower part) my breasts (google under breast tattoo). Or it will be the forearm again.
Isn’t this type of ink a beauty? It’s pretty hard to find a artist who can pull this of perfectly. But hé! That’s why we have google and the ability to read some reviews and look at thousands of portfolios. Those color palette’s are making me so cheerful, it fills me up with energy and inspiration. I think this piece would be at it’s best on a forearm, calf, just above the knee or on the upper back on the spine.
O yes! One of my favorite. I’ve got so many ideas for minimalistic pieces already and the advantage is that you can put a lot of different small ones on your body. Without a soul knowing that you even have a tattoo. I would adore to have a little flamingo, heart, globe, bow, diamond of a petite arrow somewhere on my skin. My favorite places for small ink are on the inner side of my elbow, on the front of my shoulder, on my feet and on the side of my ribcage. Plenty of possibilities don’t you think?
Just a warning in advance… Make sure that you really know what you want when you decide to get one. Do research on a couple of different artist and shops. Take someone with you, certainly when you are getting a big one. Believe me, driving back home on your own isn’t the best idea in the world!
